What is it about?
The study proposes a criterion of stability capable of predicting an impending failure by elastic buckling of an element of a structure consisting of beam-column elements. A method is develop that uses springs to model the rigidities of the joints.

Why is it important?
This is a simple method to use that permits to determine the buckling load of a element in a beam-to-column arrangement. Other methods exists but are too complex to use.
Perspectives
This was an interesting piece of work where a computer programme was developed to model the rigidities of the joints and determine the elastic buckling of elements. The work could be expanded o include for example dynamic loading, P-Delta effects, residual effects, etc.
