Why is it important?

Micromachining of polymer nanocomposites is expected to have wide range of industrial applications due to the trend of manufacturing - Miniaturization and the advanced properties of nanocomposites. However, the micromachinability of those materials has not been sufficiently investigated. This study provided an optimization in terms of cutting parameters and filler content to attain high surface quality, low cutting force and tool wear rate via experiments.

Perspectives

This study was a great opportunity to cooperate with other researchers who have knowledge and experiences in micromaching nanocomposites domain. It is also expected to provide proper knowledge in terms of machining of nanocomposites in micro-scales that could possibly be applied in reality.
