Why is it important?
Students need skills that were not required in the past, and teachers should include them both in their teaching and in assessment. Assessment should go beyond an end-of-term achievement test and include authentic, performance-based tasks similar to those students will meet in real-world situations.
Perspectives
This chapter reflects my interest in linking the new CEFR descriptors for mediation and online interaction with day-to-day assessment practice in the classroom.
