The main aim of this chapter is to evaluate a Grid technology (GT) for Archive Solutions in terms of relevant features for Health Care Organizations (HCOs), and with particular attention to technical and organizational issues

Why is it important?
The research shows that the introduction of grid technologies in HCOs maybe is still premature. However, a grid solution unquestionably led to some important benefits, so the author suggests a “progressive and gradual approach” to its implementation
Perspectives
Grid projects commonly require the data volume of systems to be on the “Petabyte scale”. Therefore, we think that the GT could be implemented in a regional or national context providing a flexible storage platform that scales to an increased capacity and enhances the efficiency and performance of different multi-vendor image management environments distributed across multiple clinical sites
