Why is it important?
The role of potatoes is a highly debated topic and this systematic review suggest that potatoes may not be inherently harmfull, but the type of potatoes is important to consider (i.e. boiled vs. french fries).
Perspectives
There is still a great need for randomized controlled trials to determine the effects of potatoes on risk markers of cardio-metabolic health, particularly glucose metabolisms, as the evidence from observational studies on development of type 2 diabetes was mixed when investigating boiled potatoes.
