Why is it important?
This design is significant in terms of energy storage performance in turn will advance low to zero carbon initiatives.
Perspectives
Technological advancements in latent heat storage (LHS) solutions are key to maximise energy security and management. This novel energy storage design can retrieve 11.15 MJ of thermal enthalpy in 1.08 h as compared to 44.5 h for paraffin in a conventional shell-and-tube without fins and has longer service life with zero maintenance costs and simplified upscaling measures for medium and large-scale energy storage applications.
