What is it about?

This study investigated how a carbon pricing system, like the Emissions Trading System, can help achieve sustainable development goals. The study found that the system has been effective in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and associated economic losses. However, it has not yet addressed challenges like resource use and energy dependence. Combining the carbon pricing with other policies could be a more effective strategy.

Why is it important?

Emission trading systems systems are important to reach sustainable development goals because they help to internalize the costs of carbon emissions, which can encourage businesses and individuals to reduce their emissions and invest in cleaner technologies.

Perspectives
