What is it about?
In bench blasting, the distance between the blasthole and the free face, known as the burden, is one of the most critical parameters. It directly affects the size distribution of blasted rock fragments and, consequently, the efficiency of subsequent loading and hauling operations. Determining the optimum burden through field blasts is both time-consuming and costly, while the stress evolution within the rock during blasting cannot be accurately observed.
