What is it about?

The idea behind this meta-analysis is to study the strategy used by men and women during complex thinking, memory, and emotion, using the most advanced imaging technique (fMRI). This is done by observing the brain areas activated in men and women during specific tasks.

Why is it important?

Men were found to have faster responses during complex thinking tasks, better shape recall compared to better verbal recall in women, worse long-term memory, and delayed emotional exhaustion compared to women. This study provides an insight into gender similarities and differences in the daily activities.

Perspectives

I think that this study is of interest to any one, not only specialists in neuroscience and behavioral studies. It provide an insight to the gender similarities and differences from the neuroscience perspective, a perspective not previously discussed. Moreover, fMRI is a very expensive imaging technique, so that most studies involve only small number of patients. So that I think that meta-analysis approach (like this study) is the best approach to study brain activation using this expensive, highly valuable imaging modality.
