What is it about?
The cognitive decline degree in non-dementia controls (NDCs) and individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) was indexed using cerebral hemodynamic changes as features. This index suggests MCI risk value and can provide a cognitive function measurement system with less mental load that can be performed at the activity of daily living level.

Why is it important?
The frontal lobe has an important role of higher cognitive function, but it is very complicated and difficult to interpret. We found a difference in blood flow changes in the parietal temporal region rather than the frontal lobe between NDCs and MCI groups. This cortex region is involved in attention control, which is the hierarchical basis of higher cognitive functions.
Perspectives
We'll confirm the validity and robustness of this index through an intervention longitudinal study with an increased number of subjects. Attention control perspectives may contribute to reveal the clinical picture of MCI.
