What is it about?

Citicoline is hypothesized to improve the cholinergic system of the brain. Two retrospective cohorts involving 563 patients were analyzed in this review. Limited evidence suggests that citicoline as adjunct may improve cognitive function.

Why is it important?

We believe this publication will be of great importance to the scientific community as this study determined the effects of citicoline as an adjunct treatment to acetylcholinesterase inhibitors for patients with Alzheimer disease through systematic review of relevant studies.

Perspectives

Writing this review was enlightening and insightful. It was also a great opportunity to work with co-authors whom I have had a great long standing collaborations.
