What is it about?

This survey explored the correlation between a wide variety of emotional (such as depression, ADD, Autism spectrum), sexual (such as lifetime number of sex partners, frequency of porn use, and frequency of masturbation), and behavioral (such as alcohol, marijuana, and video game use) with attitudes toward sex robots.

Why is it important?

Sex tech is advancing at an astounding rate, with likely positive as well as potentially negative outcomes for consumers. For may couples, sexual intimacy is a critical aspect of their relationship. Nonetheless, sex robots may become the lovers of our future. The time is now for us to begin to understand this dynamic, so as to facilitate the transition to increased technology interfacing human intimacy.

Perspectives

Some of our results were expected, such as people who identified as female reported more negative attitudes toward sex robots. However, many of our findings were novel and noteworthy - such as those who self-reported depression or ADD expressed more positive attitudes toward sex robots.
