Why is it important?
This is an interesting paper showing changes in levels of iron and iron-related proteins in CSF and plasma of AD patients vs controls. We think It is an important contribution to the field
Perspectives
Our findings indicate that the components of iron metabolism in the bloodstream influence the pathophysiological processes of AD and are potential therapeutic targets. In addition, the measurement of iron’s metabolism, regulation, and transporters in the bloodstream could be useful additions to existing biomarker panels in disease diagnosis.
