What is it about?

We studied which factors that were significant predictors of involuntary admission to a Norwegian psychiatric hospital. The diagnosis of a psychotic illness and the precense of some sort of emergency situation were important predictors.

Why is it important?

We need to know more about risk factors for involuntary admission in order to reduce unneccesary admissions.

Perspectives

Patients suffering from a psychotic illness and patients that are in some sort of emergency situation have an increased risk of involuntary admission.
