What is it about?
This study explores the development of Vietnam’s public relations (PR) industry, which remains relatively new but is growing quickly. It outlines key milestones, from its emergence during Vietnam’s economic reforms (Đổi Mới) to its evolution in a globalized and digital landscape. Through expert interviews and document analysis, the study highlights how local PR is shaped by both Western influences and Vietnamese culture. It also reveals that most current practices remain marketing-focused and one-way in nature, with limited attention to long-term reputation management or ethical standards. However, the industry is gradually evolving, with increasing interest in global standards, improved education, and professional collaboration.
