Therefore, this article examines his upbringing, his interaction with the issues of his time, and his stance towards Sufism.

Why is it important?

Ibn Bādīs had a Sufi upbringing, contributing significantly to his balanced views of Sufi issues. He distinguished between what is authentic and acceptable in Islam and what is foreign, which serves to discredit any assertions of his wholesale opposition to Sufism. Ibn Badis had his own approach to Sunni Sufism, as evident in his writings.
