What is it about?
Have you ever seen a color in the real world and wished you could use it directly in a digital creation? We developed an extended reality (XR) editing system that allows people to pick colors from real objects, use them to paint virtual designs, and place the results back into their physical surroundings. Instead of switching between separate tools or choosing only from preset color palettes, users can move continuously between real-world inspiration and virtual creation.

Why is it important?
Creative inspiration often comes from the physical world, but many digital tools separate the creative process from the environment around us. Our research explores how these two worlds can become part of one continuous creative experience. This approach could inform future applications in stage and exhibition design, film previsualization, and creative education, where the colors and atmosphere of a real environment are important to the creative process.
