What is it about?
We observe from ADS-B sensor data that some forms of Mountain Wave Turbulence (MWT) and Convective Induced Turbulence (CIT) can be identified in near real-time. While ADS-B was not intended to be a weather state sensor, this observation demonstrates added value for using ADS-B in the future.

Why is it important?
Widespread collection of ADS-B data and processing of MWT and CIT data may improve aviation safety.
