What is it about?
This study tested how well ChatGPT translates tourist texts when given extra info like purpose and audience. It found that while the tool stays true to the words, it often misses cultural and persuasive elements unless prompts are very detailed.

Why is it important?
This research is important because it shows that simply using AI for translation isn't enough—without detailed prompts, tools like ChatGPT can miss key cultural and persuasive elements. It helps bridge the gap between machine and human translation quality.
Perspectives
I've been teaching translation for almost 20 years. I'm also a translator. My experience in both roles made me aware of the complexity of the decision-making process in translation. This research was a first step towards understanding how human translators can benefit from the potentials of AI as a tool.
