What is it about?
The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted care of patients with Type 1 Diabetes toward using virtual "telemedicine" visits. We examined the impact this change had on the types of patients seen in these visits. Overall, we found that telemedicine was successful at reaching most of these patients, but we did find a small decrease in visits to the pediatric clinic among non-english speaking patients and those with medicaid as their primary insurance. We suggest closely monitoring these groups to ensure they have equitable access to care when using telemedicine.
