Virgin β-Cells at the Neogenic Niche Proliferate Normally and Mature Slowly

What is it about?

We recently discovered a novel subset of virgin beta cells that occurs at the periphery of healthy islets. We here report that these cells are long-lived, capable of proliferation under normal conditions and in response to metabolic challenges.
