What is it about?

This paper finds the optimum threshold of 1-h PG and its accuracy at this threshold to diagnose type 2 diabetes by performing a meta-analysis of 15 studies comprising 35,551 participants from various ethnicities.

Why is it important?

1-h PG post oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is a more accurate predictor of the risk of type 2 diabetes than fasting glucose, two-hour glucose, HbA1c, and their combination. Furthermore, post-OGTT glucose is a better predictor of cardiovascular outcomes and mortality than fasting glucose and HbA1c. Thus, it is logical to evaluate the potential of 1-h PG to diagnose type 2 diabetes.
