Perspectives

This work contribution from graduate students and post-docs in my lab reflects the current literature with two lysosomal enzymes. We continue working toward further understanding of these important enzymes in macrophage biology during HIV infection. Tissue macrophages are important reservoirs of HIV in the body and their innate immunity changes during infection for the benefit of the virus. Depleting the virus from these cell reservoirs and modulating their function is important to overcome the long term effects of HIV disease.
