What is it about?
This study goes beyond purchase intention to show how satisfaction, personalization, and social interaction in Genshin Impact drive different forms of player consumption, including co-production, community engagement, and word-of-mouth. This paper is a must-read for game developers, marketers, and researchers interested in free-to-play models, Gen Z gaming behavior, and the balance between monetization and player well-being.

Why is it important?
Understanding these behaviors helps game companies design more sustainable and ethical engagement strategies that retain players without pushing them toward compulsive spending.
Perspectives
This paper is co-authored with my student. I am happy to supervise students who wish to explore this topic further and contribute to healthier digital ecosystems. As a supervisor and co-author, I am particularly interested in ethical and sustainable game design. Gacha games can offer joy and community, but they also carry risks of compulsive play and spending. I see this study as a step toward guiding developers and policymakers to balance innovation with responsibility.
