This article evaluated three phenotypic disk diffusion method for detection of mecA mediated methicillin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus in clinical laboratory in comparison to molecular detection of mecA gene as gold standard. It found cefoxitin 30 microgram disk to have the highest sensitivity and specificity for detecting MRSA when compared to mecA gene detection.
