What is it about?

H3 receptor antagonist 2-18 has been shown in this study to have comparative anti epileptic effects as valproic acid, the reference dug for treatment of epilepsy in mice. In addition it was shown to have minimal teratological effects on the fetus.

Why is it important?

It is impotant in that it uses a drug that has not been used before in the treatment of epilepsy. Most drugs used now have teratological effects on the fetus but H3R antagonist 2-18 does not seem to have any reproductive toxicological effects.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a pleasure, for one, it was presenting results on a new drug, and secondly through this experiment a new research group was formed. The main aim of this group was to conduct translational research and this was the first of hopefully many more similar projects in the future.
