What is it about?

This paper is aimed at assessing the quality of Antithrombotic prescription in elderly patients as older population are more prone to Adverse Drug Reactions due to inappropriate prescribing. Therefore, inappropriate omissions or commissions of Antithrombotics such as warfarin, heparin, Aspirin and clopidogrel have been assessed in elderly patients.

Why is it important?

Assessing inappropriate prescribing using the updated 2015 STOP/ START are believed to identify higher number of potential omissions and commissions, thereby having more predictablity for ADR. This problems are turned out to be more pronounced in Elderly patients pertaining to Antithrombotic Therapy as the risk for cardiovascular disease are very common in older population.
