What is it about?

Ascending trust spirals are essential for the incoming outsider managers in order to get intangible resources essential for their decision making; descending trust spirals keep them ignorant and incompetent.

Why is it important?

Because no one can manage successfully without subordinates supply her/him essential information and knowledge that s/he lacks and they have due to their specialized education and practicing jobs.

Perspectives

I learned about the above both as a manager as an anthropologist in both kibbutzim (plural of kibbutz) and inter-kibbutz organizations in Israel. My recent book 'Mismanagement, "Jumpers," and Morality' present detailed ethnography which present both managers who succeeded by ascending trust spirals and others who mismanaged due to descending spirals.
