What is it about?

This study compares students’ perceptions on pre-lecture videos with their perceptions on four learning methods: face-to-face lecture on whiteboards, face-to-face power point lecture, reading the textbook, and other learning methods (i.e. study group, class discussions, tutoring, etc.). Students’ perceptions of face-to-face lecture on whiteboards and Youtube videos which show their instructor explaining the concepts on whiteboards are higher than the rest of four methods. Students perceive that pre-lecture videos enhance their learning and help them earn a better grade and are positively associated with higher students rating on instructor’s teaching effectiveness.
