What is it about?

the value of 3D planning increases the accuracy of implants positioning in total hip arthroplasty.

Why is it important?

implants mis-positioning is a key factor for total hip arthroplasty success

Perspectives

3D planning allows surgery simulation. This technique anticipates the difficulties likely to be encountered at the time of surgery, increasing consequently the accuracy and the safety of the surgical procedure. This innovative technique is routinely performed in order to decrease the early revision rate and also to optimize the choice of the stem design. The next step for this technique will integrate a compiutational modelin order to simulate the impact of hip reconstruction on the kinematics and the bone remodelling.
