What is it about?
Chabani Manganyi is one of the most important South African thinkers of his generation and this brief piece offers a review of his memoir and also serves to introduce readers to some of his other works including Exiles and homecomings: A biography of Es'kia Mphahlele (1983) and Political violence and the struggle in South Africa (1990), the collection Manganyi edited with political theorist André du Toit.
