What is it about?
Mosses were rarely collected in the State of Aguascalientes, Mexico. Seven species were known from the state. New collections and specimen identification has shown that the moss flora is larger. The first report indicates that 45 species are represented there and and others may be found with additional exploration.
Why is it important?
The central states in Mexico are under-explored for mosses and current hypotheses on origin and species patterns cannot be advanced without field information.
