What is it about?
Kidney biopsies are used to diagnose different types of kidney disease. Looking through the microscope at the kidney, pathologists are able to make diagnoses. We studied whether the findings through the microscope ("histopathology") could help doctors also predict which patients would develop kidney failure in the future. We found that certain findings on the biopsy were indeed able to do this, even after taking into account the type of kidney disease patients had.
