What is it about?
The globe-wide cultural crisis precipitated by the existential threat announced recently by the titans of Artificial Intelligence (AI) provides an opportunity if not responsibility for the cybertheologian to contribute to the public discussion. The prospect of a global takeover by posthuman Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) leading to the extinction of the human race has so frightened our tech giants that they have fled into ethical fox holes. In this paper we ask: how might the cybertheologian assess the realism of such a scenario and impart wisdom to public discourse drawn from theological anthropology?
