Why is it important?

To be able to rely on the information obtained from using measurements in research and practice, we need to have evidence related to their functioning in relevant target groups.

Perspectives

The N-SERIC scale was shown to be unidimensional; that is, they loaded on one and the same underlying factor. Moreover, the items had very high internal consistency; that is, they were strongly interrelated. These are requirements for using a sum score of the items as outcome. We conclude that the scale sum score can be useful for occupational therapy research and audits focusing on interpersonal aspects of practice. This study used occupational therapy students as sample; future studies might use the N-SERIC with occupational therapy practitioners after having completed relevant IRM training.
