What is it about?

Insulin resistance is the major underlying mechanism for metabolic and cardiovascular dysfunction in obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. T2D is a high-risk factor in promoting heart failure and its prevalence has risen at an alarming rate over the past few decades, and two-thirds of patients with T2D have died from heart failure. We will discuss the disease mechanisms of insulin resistance and associated heart failure at molecular level by analyzing the animal models.
