Why is it important?

With the ever increasing dependence on digital systems in all aspects of the materials supply chain, from manufacture, through to qualification, there is an urgent need to establish a digital infrastructure for engineering materials data.

Perspectives

Web technologies have had a significant and beneficial impact for various business sectors, including media, telecoms, and financial services. It seems reasonable to expect that the same will be true for the engineering materials sector.
