Why is it important?
It is adviced to rate the fuel economy of a lubricant, additive and/or combinations with a material/coating based on the full evolution of friction over speed, known as Stribeck-type curves, rather than regarding the coefficient of friction determined under mixed/boundary lubricationh at one sinmgle operation condition. The Stribeck-type curve shall be recorded at different oil temperatures.
