Simple Analytical Procedure to Estimate Optimum Asphalt Content

What is it about?

Traditional asphalt concrete mix design procedures require the preparation of a large number of specimens to determine the optimum design asphalt content. We proposed a simplified procedure that requires only the measurement of the maximum specific gravity to estimate the optimum binder content. Compaction of two or three replicates is needed to validate that the volumetric properties are adequate at a design compaction level.
