What is it about?
High temperature tensile behavior of structural steel with varying Mn content showed that the steels may withstand up to 400oC as per the load factor calculations compared to the fire resistance requirement. This is important as people use such steels instead of fire-resistant grades in commercial structures prone to fire accidents. The addition of alloying elements such as Mo is required to improve the fire resistance properties of the structural steels to fulfill the required retention factor of 0.66.
