Experimental Study of the Role of Gap Size on Bolt Failure in Clevis and Lug Joints

What is it about?

An important aspect of clevis and lug joint design is proper pin sizing. This study considers the effect of the gap size between the clevis and lug on required pin strength and shows that below certain gap to pin size ratios, the pin fails in pure shear.
