What is it about?
The goal of the work documented here in this paper is to evaluate the systems compliance for the newly fabricated CRS device with shear wave measurement by using bender elements. The evaluate parameters include: soil properties such as recompression index, compression index, swell index, and coefficient of consolidation.

Why is it important?
The use of the newly designed BP-CRS-BE device is advocated because the BP-CRS-BE device also enabled collection of shear wave velocity measurements while the sample was being subjected to various stress levels
Perspectives
The device fabricated in this work and the testing results presented in this paper provide a great potential to perform shear wave measurements during a traditional consolidation test. This will propose an alternate method to obtain soil stiffness and other parameters.
