Borehole Magnetometry Test for Evaluating a Caisson’s Reinforced Depth: Experimental Results and Theoretical Modeling

What is it about?

When the depth of a foundation element, such as a caisson, in unknown, due to lack of technical documentation, the borehole magnetometry test may be used to assess the foundation´s reinforced depth in-situ.The test is based on a borehole drilled near the foundation, and uses a proble containing a magnetic sensor. This paper presents experimental data and a theoretical modeling framework, with comparisons and discussions.
