A Comparison of Half and Quarter Space Penetration into Granular Media

What is it about?

Until recently the observation of projectile penetration into granular media was restricted to highly sophisticated laboratories and/or mathematical models. In this study we compare two recent advances in laboratory techniques that allow the real time visualization of projectile penetration, transparent soils, and the use of an observation window.
