A method to reconstitute calcite cemented gravelly sand in the laboratory

What is it about?

The formation and distribution of calcite bonds, as well as the effectiveness of the presented calcite cementation method in weakly to moderately cemented soil were evaluated by means of chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction technique, unconfined compressive strength tests and a series of monotonic and cyclic undrained triaxial tests.

Why is it important?

A simple method to cement soil specimens has been introduced in the laboratory which presents similar strengths to natural cemented soils.
