What is it about?
The paper explains the recent developments in the field of advanced cement-based fiber reinforced composite materials. These materials also exhibit self-sensing capability to detect damage and also have self-healing properties that help in self-repair of cracks which are common in traditional concrete. The review paper considers the use of these relatively higher cost materials from the perspective of their beneficial effect on durability of material and hence longer service life of structures built with them thereby lowering the life cycle cost.
