What is it about?
We have built a culvert prototype exposed to real environment conditions to check the durability of seawater concrete combined with different types of reinforcement. The culvert is equipped with various probes that will allow monitoring of long term performances.

Why is it important?
The use of seawater in concrete is currently forbidden because of corrosion-related risks, however if combined with non-conventional reinforcement (e.g. stainless steel and glass FRP) it could help reduce the consumption of freshwater and, hence, the environmental impact of concrete.
