What is it about?
Biocementation is a biomediated process that can improve the geotechnical properties of soils through the precipitation of calcium carbonate minerals. Our study uses direct simple shear testing to investigate the shearing behavior of biocemented sands following chemically induced damage for the first time. The achieved results improve our understanding of the long-term performance of biocemented soils relevant to field applications.
