What is it about?

Glutinous pistachio, mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus L.) - is a tree species in the Anacardiaceae family. Occurs in the Mediterranean basin: in North Africa (Canary Islands, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Tunisia), in Southern Europe (Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Greece, Italy) and in West Asia (Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey) . Cultivated in many countries of the world. Pistacia lentiscus leaves from the Mitidja plain in Algeria are used by local people as a pain reliever.

This research is important due to the use of the leaves of this species by the people of Algeria for pain relief. In the present study and to estimate the consumption of essential and toxic leaf components of P. lentiscusL. it was necessary to establish from FAO

Perspectives

Pistacia lentiscus L. leaves are mostly enriched with Ca, K, Na, Fe and Zn. These elements are the most recommended supplements by doctors for overall good health. The content of these trace metals in P. lentiscus leaf preparations is safe from the point of view of the consumer. The results of these studies can be used as a database for the pharmaceutical industry and medical research.
