What is it about?
A system SMO (System for Monitoring Objects) was developed in order to enable description of complex network structures of interconnected devices. To perform detailed simulation studies, the SMO project has been expanded to its branch of the description programming language SMOL, and next, to the complete system SMOLsim of modeling and simulation. In this system we examine an intelligent system for measuring and controlling lighting on highways in terms of cost-effectiveness.

Why is it important?
The modern automatic control systems are to a great extent founded on measurement networks. Continouous monitoring gives us the possibility of verifying the correctness and optimality of the system's operation.
